Is the scuttling of artificial wrecks a good thing?
So let’s start by looking at the pro’s.
1). More things for divers to look at.
2). More habitat for fish and other marine life.
3). Less impact on the reef. This means that the already over dived reefs can get some restbite to recover.
These are the three main pros for artificial wrecks and I am sure we all could think of some more.
So how about the cons?
Well if they are cleaned properly and made safe there should only be a positive impact on the environment.
So strike 1.
So how about the cost? We hear governments and local agencies complain about costs. A country would easily recoup any cost as more options for divers, means more money coming to the country.
So strike two.
